Americans love wine, but many of us have never had the pleasure of enjoying Turkish wine. So when asked about Turkish wine, your average American, even a well seasoned wine lover, might respond, "Turkish wine? Is that even a thing?"
YEAH, IT'S A THING
TURKISH WINE?
In fact, winemakers have been making wine from the extremely diverse regions of the Anatolian terroir for thousands of years. And in recent decades, a deeply passionate community of Turkish wine producers has rediscovered this tradition. Today there are many Turkish wineries making beautiful wines, using varied winemaking techniques, both with international and local grape varieties.

A Turkish Texan Tradition Continued
The man pictured here is Samim Hüseyin Ä°çsezen. Born in Ä°zmir in 1926, he was one of the first Turks to settle in Texas, where he called Houston his home for over 50 years. A lover of wine for all of his long life, he attributed much of his longevity to the community and comradery fostered over a good glass of wine.
It is in his honor that his son, Robert Åžükrü Ä°çsezen, chose to create Sharap Imports LLC, a family owned and operated wine import business based in Houston, Texas. Samim pioneered the deep connection between Turks and Texans. We now continue this tradition, building community from the historic vineyards of Anatolia to the deep and delectable tastes of Texas!
